Television and cable networks grew from Coaxial cable TV networks to broadcast and broadband delivery of hybrid fiber coax (HFC) network that can carry voice, data and multimedia services. DOCSIS and PacketCable standards developed to increase the speed, QoS and capacity of cable TV networks to provide VOIP, and packetized real-time network services.
